Feel “Alone Again" with Derek Simpson this Valentine’s Day (out 2/8)

I could not shake the feeling that I’d never be alone again

Long Beach-based alt-pop artist Derek Simpson gives us an emotive glimpse into a relationship running its course. A story many of us know all too well. What sets this piece apart is the gentle and intimate vocal alongside cinematic production that creates a sort of call and response effect.

From Derek: "The lyrics came from a conversation about the pros and cons of being alone, with the idea that the character in this song can't make up his mind as to whether or not he'd like to "never be alone again" by continuing his romance with this woman. The character's obsessive engagement with his fear of never being alone again ends of being the relationship's demise, and that was an important point I wanted to make as well. If he had kept perspective and focused on the love he had been blessed with, he wouldn't have felt so crushed by the end of the song. Many tough lessons take personal experience in order to learn."

The alluring and heavy-hearted “Alone Again” is out 2/8 on Trailing Twelve.
