Party of the Sun will release their new EP, Carpenters Dream, on February 27, 2026 via Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun will release Carpenters Dream on February 27, 2026 via Trailing Twelve Records, a piece composed as five movements, intended to be heard front to back without interruption. Written during a period of profound joy and family loss in October 2022, Carpenters Dream treats songwriting as shelter and sequence rather than collection, allowing melodies and themes to recur, erode, and re-form over the course of a single unfolding movement.

Carpenters Dream was born during an unusually warm New England autumn, with temperatures lingering in the 70s well into November. The extended season allowed space for outdoor work, reflection, and writing as the canopy fell. Songs began to take shape that month, evolving through multiple arrangements over the winter. The following summer, while performing at Mole Hill in Alstead, the band discovered the version that felt complete - the arrangement preserved on the final recording.

The record is dedicated to Ethan McBrien’s brother, Kyle.

Party of the Sun is composed of Rory Hurley (electric guitar, producer, mix & master), Ethan McBrien (acoustic guitar, vocals), and Garrett Cameron (bodhrán). Their signature sound, rooted in 70s-inspired folk and psychedelic textures, remains intact here, but Carpenters Dream feels distilled to its essential elements: breath, rhythm, wood, and wire.

Across its five movements, the piece traces a continuous emotional and seasonal arc. Rather than existing as separate songs, Carpenters Dream is intended to be experienced as a single, uninterrupted piece. Themes and melodies recur and evolve, mirroring the natural cycles that inspired its creation: growth, erosion, return.

“These melodies were a kind of shelter for us,” the band says. “They twined together while everything else felt uncertain. It was a strange gift. The warmth lingering late into the year, the time to work outside, to listen, to wait. When we finally played these songs live in the arrangement you hear now, the magic thing happened. That’s when we knew.”

Carpenters Dream will be released exclusively on Bandcamp on February 27, 2026 as a single continuous track via Trailing Twelve.
