JJ & The Mood releases debut album We Already Have The Answer available on October 14th on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.
JJ & The Mood, the disco-pop project of Cincinnati-based vocalist and songwriter Jack Sjogren, announce their new album, We Already Have The Answer, available October 14th via Trailing Twelve Records. Blending indie pop, disco, funk, and dance music, the album pairs warm analog textures and infectious grooves with playful, emotionally candid songwriting, creating a vibrant collection of songs about self-discovery, connection, and the liberating act of letting yourself move.
Built around JJ & The Mood’s signature concept of “therapy dance music,” We Already Have The Answer approaches personal growth without taking itself too seriously. Across ten tracks, Sjogren turns questions of identity, vulnerability, aging, relationships, and self-acceptance into grooves, playful lyrics, and communal anthems. Rather than treating the dance floor as an escape from inner life, the album embraces movement as a way of moving through it. As Sjogren puts it, JJ & The Mood is about creating music that is “not self-serious but serious about being yourself.”
The album follows a series of singles that introduced its central themes, including “How Many Times,” “Whatcha Need,” “Tired of Being Tough,” and most recently “Gonna Sleep Good Tonight.” Together, they trace an increasingly direct embrace of joy and emotional openness. “How Many Times” turns the simple exhilaration of feeling good into an invitation to dance without inhibition, while “Whatcha Need” encourages listeners to get quiet, listen inward, and ask for what they actually need. “Tired of Being Tough” rejects emotional stoicism in favor of vulnerability, and “Gonna Sleep Good Tonight” transforms dancing into a form of meditation and release.

“At its core, I wanted to capture the innate spirituality of being on the dance floor — how movement and exertion can bring you peace the same way meditation does,” Sjogren says of “Gonna Sleep Good Tonight.” That idea runs throughout We Already Have The Answer, where physical movement becomes a recurring pathway toward emotional release, connection, and self-acceptance.
At the center of the album is “Babies On The Town,” an irreverent, infectious dance track driven by deliberate synth bass, syncopated guitar, and explosive drums. Its repeated refrain of “Babies on the town” captures the album’s larger philosophy: abandon self-consciousness, make some noise, and let yourself be a little ridiculous. Elsewhere, “Star Tower” serves as one of the album’s most expansive moments, building a cosmic metaphor around the idea that personal power is not something we need to acquire, but something that has been inside us all along.
The album’s opening title track, “We Already Have The Answer,” establishes the record’s thesis immediately. Over a surreal synth soundscape, Sjogren reframes self-discovery as something less complicated than we often make it: “What was the question? / We already have the answer.” Rather than prescribing a particular solution, the song suggests that trusting ourselves, connecting with others, and getting back into our bodies may be enough to begin.
We Already Have The Answer also marks a new chapter for JJ & The Mood. What began as a collaboration between Sjogren and longtime producer Joey Joesph has evolved into a solo project led by Sjogren, while Joesph remains a key creative collaborator and producer. The shift gives the album a new sense of focus, bringing together the project’s playful vocal personality, analog-driven production, and increasingly personal songwriting into its most complete statement yet.
Ultimately, We Already Have The Answer is about loosening your grip, trusting your instincts, staying connected, and finding freedom in movement. “I try to let radical love guide everything I make — this deep affection for life I feel down deep. There are times I wonder if it's left me, but it always comes back when I let loose and get vulnerable,” Sjogren says. That ethos sits at the heart of the album: the answer was never waiting somewhere outside of us. It was already there, somewhere between the beat, the body, and the people dancing beside you.
