Party of the Sun Explores Movement with ‘Continuous’ album Trekker - (10/30/19)

Party of the Sun presents their debut full-length album, Trekker, available Oct. 30 on Compact Disc and Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Trekker from New Hampshire based psychedelic-folk charmers Party of the Sun is an immersive sonic journey centered around the power of migration and movement.

After collaborating together for over 14 years, members Ethan McBrien and Rory Hurley have steadily refined their musical language and prowess. They have not only built out their own recording space, but have become the auteurs of their compositions; handling all of their own engineering, mixing, and mastering.

Created over the course of two years, Trekker is meant to act as one continuous piece - with each movement blending into the next.

“Trekker began taking form in the fall of 2017 just after Lay Low was released. Each week we recorded demos, exploring possible avenues for the next album. It was during this time, our last winter at the farm, that Out in the Air and Sea Surrounds were written. These two songs lay the groundwork for Trekker and established our vision for the album. Its thematic core is migration, inherent movement and making sense of that power. The remaining songs were written after/during such a move, we left the farm, moved to Nelson and stared out once more.

[Rory and I] have been friends and music collaborators for almost 14 years and Trekker feels like our most unified effort yet.” says McBrien

Party of the Sun creates music that feels immediately familiar and infinitely distinct. Perhaps it's the honest yearning in singer Ethan McBrien's croon. It could be the delicate and lush acoustic soundscapes harking back to an analog age. Whatever it may be, we continue to be enthralled by their artistic expression.

“Trekker” is out October 30th via Trailing Twelve.

BIO

Party of the Sun is a folk band from New Hampshire, led by songwriter Ethan McBrien and producer/multi-instrumentalist Rory Hurley.

Since 2006, both McBrien and Hurley have recorded and performed together in various projects. Throughout his career, McBrien has always had an interest in folk music; writing many songs influenced by the Americana tradition.

In the fall of 2015, McBrien and Hurley began recording this material. These collaborative sessions at McBrien’s home - a small sheep farm in Marlborough, NH - were the impetus of what has become Party of the Sun.

The first recordings from Party of the Sun surfaced in summer of 2017 via LA-based independent label Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun has shared the stage with acts including William Tyler, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and The Weight Band.
