Party of the Sun Find Guidance in Letting Go on “Forget Me Knot” - 25 January 2023

Party of the Sun release Forget Me Knot available January 25th on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, comprised of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released four EPs and two full-length albums over the span of just a few years.

After devising a mystical system to write and release works on a monthly basis, Party of the Sun return for January’s release “Forget Me Knot”, a hallucinatory cut whose sparse lyrics and experimental structure combine to form an indelible experience. An ambient intro tempers expectations before McBrien’s vocals come into focus and the rest of the band follows suit. The song reaches a crescendo with a guitar solo that is as gentle as it is exhilarating.

What in the world is this? / Eyes won’t say / Keeping the one you are/ Has its chase…

On “Forget Me Knot”, Party of the Sun wanders the soundscape like an unmarked wood, taking the listener along for the ride. Basslines bubble up and disappear without a trace, the stakes appear to be low until the euphoric widescreen climax. Party of the Sun have oft used nature as a source of inspiration for their music, and “Forget Me Knot” is no different. McBrien goes into detail on the unique songwriting process below.

“The guidance is letting go and the lost book is found, a journal of songs and moments I thought was gone for good came back today. Kernels of melody and poetry lost are rekindled as the first storm of winter wraps this mountain home.”

“Forget Me Knot” continues Party of the Sun’s prolific output as they have dropped a new single every month since October 2021 with an average of 10,000 monthly listeners. They have also garnered 300k+ cross-platform streams with support from Under the Radar, Atwood, Glide, and For The Rabbits in that time.

“Forget Me Knot” is out January 25th, 2023 on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve.
