Party of the Sun release Love and Plenty b/w Lost Dreadnought available April 19th on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, composed of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released five EPs and two full-length albums over just a few years.

After the release of their dreamlike EP Capsule III in February 2023, Party of the Sun returns for their new two-song single “Love and Plenty” backed with “Lost Dreadnought.”

“Love and Plenty” is an acoustic-driven cut that experiments with repetition and whimsical production. McBrien focuses the entirety of the song on the phrase “Into my life / love and plenty” - a powerful sentiment that repeats like a meditation as the music builds and releases around these words. A musical break occurs halfway through the song and a soulful electric guitar takes over as it dances around the lyrical melody.

“Love and Plenty” feels reminiscent of Revolver-era Beatles. McBrien’s vocals evoke the gravity of the phrase he repeats by leaning into the start of each repeating line. Engineer and multi-instrumentalist Rory Hurley suggested giving the song a “bouncy George Harrison vibe,” which the band captures through their chord progressions, experimental guitar arrangements, and uptempo drums.

“I was experimenting with progressions that modulate continuously and ended up with ‘Love and Plenty’.” - McBrien

“Lost Dreadnought” is an excerpt from a long studio jam where McBrien’s acoustic track was accidentally not recorded. They listened back to the recording and decided it was “a beautiful mishap.”

“Love and Plenty b/w Lost Dreadnought” is out April 19th, 2024 on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve.
