Party of the Sun release Capsule III available February 24th on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, comprised of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released five EPs and two full-length albums over the span of just a few years.

The follow-up to their latest Capsule II EP, released in August 2022, Capsule III is the culmination of a string of single releases from the trio. Beginning in October 2021 the band devised a mystical system to write and release works on a monthly basis. This shift in perspective has allowed for the group to unlock their creative x-factor, writing some of their most sonically impressive work to date. Lead singer Ethan McBrien goes into detail on the journey the Capsule I-III project has been below.

“Wintergreen pokes through inches of fresh snow on the south side of the decaying beech tree. It's been a year and a half since the Capsule project began and I reflect on its pith as I gather the minty wild…The creek runs sunward south and we sing farewell to this chapter and the selves who dwelled there”

The music on Capsule III stretches from Grateful Dead-esque experimental folk on “Overcast” to hallucinatory ambient pieces on “Forget Me Knot”. Despite the wide range of musical styles, the beauty of Capsule III comes from its cohesion. The songs bleed together effortlessly, leading to a dreamlike listening experience. The opening track “Smoke Bush” acts as an amuse-bouche, setting the stage for the EP by delivering a bite sized sample of the music to come. Delicately fingerpicked acoustic guitars comfortably guide the song into the unknown, while Ethan and guest vocalist Rachel Allen wax poetic in the band’s trademarked enigmatic lyrical style “Oh it’s time I go sing a back road home and clear this conquest mind... Oh I found it out here screaming ‘this can’t be right’”.

Capsule III continues Party of the Sun’s busy release schedule as they have dropped a new single every month since October 2021 with an average of 10,000 monthly listeners. They have also garnered 500k+ cross-platform streams with support from Under the Radar, Atwood, Glide, and For The Rabbits in that time.

Capsule III is out February 24th, 2023 on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve.
