Party of the Sun team up with Garrett Cameron to release “Thought I Knew // Electric Night” available July 7th on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve Records.

Party of the Sun is a psychedelic folk band from New Hampshire, comprised of Ethan McBrien, Rory Hurley, and Garrett Cameron. Writing and recording in various nature-bound locations, such as a small New England sheep farm, the band has released three EPs and two full-length albums over the span of just a few years.

After their sophomore album Fullest Hour, the band had a moment of clarity in their approach to writing and sharing their music. Singer and songwriter Ethan McBrien explained that while the album process can be gratifying, it can have its limitations. Together the band opted to start writing new material without the restriction of being tied to any specific project or album.

The monthly single releases have been compiled into a series of EPs under the aptly-titled Capsule. The first of these compilations, Capsule I, was released in March. With the release of “Thought I Knew // Electric Night,” Party of the Sun have announced the second EP installment Capsule II will be released on August 5th.

“Thought I Knew // Electric Night” is a double-single of ambient meditations created by band-member Garrett Cameron. Utilizing stems from two existing Party of the Sun songs, Cameron stretched, looped, and sculpted these deep and calming atmospheric pieces.

The band has been sharing “journal entries” to coincide with each monthly release - providing a glimpse into the process and the imagery surrounding it. The entry for “Thought I Knew // Electric Night” is below.

Forsythia blooms, maple flowers drop, skunk cabbage gives the stream bank its green. Garrett completes the Trekker “dubs” as April merges into May. These tracks feel like Garrett; calm, inventive, deep. He has taken the stems from two songs off our album “Trekker” and created two completely new ambient pieces. How myriad the plants that grow from a common root system! We are grateful to the metamorphic muse who continues to lead the Capsule project in directions unforeseen.

“Thought I Knew // Electric Night” is out July 7th and is taken from the upcoming Capsule II EP, out August 5th, 2022 on Digital Formats via Trailing Twelve.
